The Tenlingo scanner
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Did you see TenlingoScan in your visitors or server logs? Then someone scanned your online store with the free scan on tenlingo.com, or we looked at your store before a first contact. Here you can read what the scanner does, what it never does and how to opt out.
What the scanner looks at
- Only public pages that every visitor sees: the homepage, a few product pages, the policy pages (returns, shipping, privacy, terms), the empty cart page and your store's public product list.
- One scan requests about 15 to 25 pages, once.
- It identifies itself as
TenlingoScan/1.1 (+https://tenlingo.com/scanner).
What the scanner never does
- Log in, or open pages behind a password, such as your admin, customer accounts or checkout.
- Add anything to your cart or place an order. We only do that if you give us permission yourself, for example in a Growth Scan.
- Get around a block, captcha or bot check. If it gets an error code 401, 403 or 429, or a bot check, it stops.
- Fire your advertising and analytics pixels. When we check your store in a real browser, we block those requests so your numbers don't get polluted.
- Store data of your customers.
We follow your robots.txt
- The scanner reads your robots.txt first. If it disallows a page, the scanner doesn't request it. If it disallows everything, the scanner doesn't scan your store.
- To keep out only our scanner: add
User-agent: TenlingoScan with Disallow: / below it to your robots.txt.
- We also respect a TDM reservation on your site (
tdm-reservation): then we don't scan.
Opting out
Don't want to be scanned any more, not even by someone else through our site? Email hello@tenlingo.com with "stop scanner" and your domain. We add your domain to our list within 5 working days; after that the scanner no longer scans your store. We only keep your domain, so it stays that way. If you don't want any email or calls from us either, just say so.
What we do with the result
- If you ran a scan yourself on our site: you see the result right away. What we keep and for how long is in our privacy statement.
- If we looked at your store before a first contact: we only use what we saw on your public pages, and our first message says when and where we saw it. See also "If we contacted you first" in the privacy statement.
